Today I tried some new dessert recipes, but using Dollar Tree ingredients, to figure out what works and what doesn't. All desserts were under $6.25 to make, making them perfect inexpensive treats to bring to a family or work holiday party or potluck.

Dessert 1: Tiger Stripe Fudge

2 jars of peanut butter $2.50

1 jar of vanilla or cream cheese frosting $1.25

1 jar of chocolate fudge frosting $1.25

(or freeze them, we have been eating them frozen and they are so good)

Dessert 2: Slutty Brownies-Rename if desired LOL

1 bag of chocolate chip cookie Mix $1.25

1 box of brownie Mix $1.25

12 oreos $2.50

Margarine/oil, and eggs to prepare mixes $2.50-$3.75

Prepare cookie dough according to package instructions. Press into the bottom of a parchment lined 9x9 baking dish. Layer oreos on top (if you desire to soften the Oreos, dunk them in milk prior to layering them) Prepare the brownie mix and pour on top making sure that all oreos are covered. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes then cool completely prior to slicing. I cut into 18 pieces.

Recipe 3: Christmas Crack (Did not turn out, need to revisit mayhaps)

Recipe 4: Cool Whip Cookies

1 box of cake mix $1.25

1 8 ounce tub of thawed cool whip $1.25

Powdered sugar $1.25

Alternate idea: get 1 box of strawberry cake mix, 1 box of vanilla cake mix, 2 tubs of cool whip, food coloring, and powdered sugar. Would cost $7.50 and make a red and green batch of cookies for a very festive treat.
