• 3 cups poppy seeds (300g) freshly grounded! (Buying only at a spice shop)
• 1 cup sugar (200 grams)
• 1 cup sugar (200 grams)
• 1 cup milk (200 milliliters)
• 100 g butter at room temperature
• Zest from whole lemon (finely grated shell)
• 80 g biscuit crumbs (ground thin)
• 300 grams of flour
• 220 grams of very cold butter
• 100 grams of sugar
• 1 egg
• Sugar powder for decoration

אופן ההכנה

1. Prepare the filling - place in a small pot 3 cups fresh ground poppy seeds, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, 100 grams butter at room temperature, zest from whole lemon and place the pot over medium heat. Cook for 10 minutes while stirring, turn off flame, add 80 grams of biscuit crumbs, mix well and set aside to cool. (The mass should cool completely)
2. After two hours turn the oven to 180 degrees. Divide the dough into 2 balls. Sprinkle with baking paper, place a ball of dough on it and cook it. Put the dough ball between two baking sheets for a uniform height leaf.
3. Place a 26-gauge ring on the dough (or 24 if you want a higher cake) and remove the remaining dough. (If there is no ring, you can flatten the dough in any rectangular or round pan). Place the poppy filling on the dough. Roll out the second dough ball, place in the poppy stuffing and tighten. (From the rest you can make delicious crispy cookies)
4. Make holes with a fork over the dough and bake for about 35 minutes until the cake turns golden. Garnish with powdered sugar.
